Into the new: Best feet forward for a win!
Winning the New Year
I'm a lifelong learner, so I put this urge into practice this year and completed my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Although I love to learn, I have to agree with the majority of students who have tackled this behemoth, that this was one of the hardest trainings I've ever done. And it wasn't my first attempt either. Three times was the charm - the other two attempts were once with TAFE with a completely unsupported coach, who didn't seem to care about her students one bit, the second time was fully online, where, again, the learning was unsupported by humans, and just delivered module by module online with no opportunity to clarify or ask questions. This last, final and successful attempt was a hybrid of online learning and monthly face to face classes. It took me a little longer than the set 12 months, but the trainers were supportive, kind and informative - they wanted us to succeed. Thankyou to the Centre for People Development in Adelaide, SA for their care and knowledge and abililty to make a difficult (for me) course content understandable and relatable.
More than half my year was spent traveling to Adelaide and Gawler and there were a fair few personal disruptions, but somehow everything I planned got done.
I finished more training in December with an NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming), Hypnotherapy and Timeline Therapy with the amazing Toni Everard , also from SA. I was priveliged to participate in her last training and learned so much which I am now able to pass on to my clients and help them achieve greater goals than they could ever imagine.
Because I do like learning and felt that I needed to formalise some of my knowledge, I have just enrolled in two Certificate IVs - Life Coaching & Entrepreneurship & New Business. Although the Coaching industry is currently unregulated, this is about to change, and I am keen to provide my clients with the best possible support. I have been coaching and mentoring for more than a decade, but there is always something new to learn. I enrolled in my courses through the Life Coaching Academy, after a lot of research and can't speak highly enough of the support and content they provide through both live webinars, recorded content, downloadable information and the stringent requirements to fulfil the course requirements.
As well as study goals for last year - achieved - and 2025 - achieving! there have been plenty of other highlights and milestones to reflect on during the past 12 months. I turned 75 - a birthday milestone - actually every birthday is a milestone!! formed a new business partnership with two other amazing women - 3 Wise Women - and got named in a couple of award/acknowledgements through SA Women as a Woman to Watch, and The Seven Effect as a Freedom Award finalised - we'll find out later in the year how we did!
So, what are your plans for 2025? I have so many, I need to refine my list so I don't get too scattered and overwhelm myself. I've got some audacious goals, some medium size ones and some small ones, just to keep me motivated and on track.
A goal without a plan is just a wish!
When it comes to really big goals, you need to break actions down into small steps, so that you constantly and consistently move forward towards completion. For example, I have made a chart of my course study materials and obligations, crossing them off and dating them as they are done. Without a clear strategy trying to fit study in with work and family will end in tears (of frustration) and I'll start reverting to type, meeting deadlines at the last minute. A hangover from my years as a journalist!
I don't like the feeling of being under pressure to complete a task, although I am having a chuckle at writing this blog on the first of the new year, instead of having it prepared earlier!
I'm looking forward to working with you in 2025 and helping you achieve your amazing goals!
